Many students from low-income families don’t have parental help to oversee completion of homework resulting in zeroes in the gradebook and low GPAs.
Our Homework Heroes work one-on-one with K-6th grade students to provide much needed homework assistance events. Homework Heroes are not tutors, teachers or experts. They are student and adult volunteers who offer guidance for elementary students as they complete homework, study, and practice foundational reading and math (addition, subtraction, multiplication) skills.
Homework Heroes events happen throughout the year and last between 1-2 hours. Volunteers sign up for events as their schedules permit. Opportunities are also available for ongoing, weekly Homework Heroes assignments with individual students.
*During the pandemic, we have chosen to serve students virtually via Zoom calls until further notice. Individual and group sessions are scheduled as needed.
